Question Simple question from the front trunk

03 Boxster base: In the front lid, between spare wheel & battery, bolted on the wall, there is a kind of black amplifier. What's that?

Thanks!

That's exactly what it is, an amplifier.

That would be an audio amplifier Tolum.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to buy yourself a new one!

I have heard that many people opt to upgrade this amp, though I'm not sure of the process or what kinds are reccomended. Might be worth looking into though ...

Anyway, it is unplug because when I did buy this car, there was an Alpine aftermarket radio not the original one. So I think the previous owner or installer bypass all wiring, unplug the amplifier and plug the radio direct to speakers. I'll be installing the rear speaker kit next week and try it. If it's not good, I will buy an amplifier as I guess, the original one is not compatible to an aftermarket radio?

Thanks guys.

Thierry
