Boxster replacement engines
On my 1999 Boxster 5 speed ,the engine was replaced at 15K miles in 2001 .Did porsche replace these engines with 2.5 liter engines or 2.7 liter engines? Does anyone know? Or is there a list of engine serial numbers published. The car now has 71K on it and it is truly the most enjoyable car I have ever driven .

The 2.5 engines are not e-gas as the 2.7 and 3.2 motors are.
Doing that swap would necessitate changing the DME (Motronic 5.2 vs 7.2), the Fuel Tank and system (return vs non-return) and the accelerator and throttle control system (non-e-gas vs e-gas). All in, you looking at another $10k on top of the motor itself. No dealer (or PCNA) are going to pick that up gratis. |
