Brake rotor rust

Anyone got a good product for cleaning rust off of rotors? I have Carrera wheels that are pretty open between the spokes and there is a light rust on the brake rotors. It is kind of a pet peeve to see a detailed car with rusty rotors.

your brake pads should burn off your rotors when you drive and brake normally. I live in Ohio and with the humidity and weather, my rotors will get a little rust if I havent driven my car in a week or so. Try SIMPLE GREEN! I use it to clean my old rims and it eats right through the dust that a water hose wont touch. SIMPLE GREEN is also biodegradeable if you live in Cali or have kids or dogs running around. It is the military clean all from weapons to aircraft to latrines. The stuff is pretty good and you can get it anywhere.

Thanks, I'll try it. I think you are right about the humidity because my rotors have not done this before, but now the humidity is a lot higher and I only drive my car once a week at most.

Forget cleaning it !!!!

If it really bothers you, paint the hats... the rest will rub off when driving the car.

You're right Lil bastard! I usually try to lay off the brakes as much as I can, but I went out and rode the hell out of the brakes and it all came off. I don't drive it a lot but I guess I need to get the rpm's up around the red line to keep her happy too!

If you have rust on the rotors, you're definately not driving the car enough. As mentioned, you can paint the hats to improve their appearance. Now the vents inside the rotor...that's up to the concours guys.
