How about this on my fogs?

I asked in another thread about doind my fog lights "smoke."
Here is a link to a sample from a Volvo site......hey, it's not a ricer site!!

Like I said in the other thread, I have some Cayman side grilles that I'm doing black and I want to do the front opening grilles, under the fogs, black, as well.
With the fogs smoked and a set of polished Carrera lightweights......

Well, I guess I'll just have to do it and come show you guys how it worked..... :D

I'm not a fan of reducing the performance of optics on cars. That's just me.

But then again, it is just your fogs/driving lights. And since your car is black, I think it has potential to look pretty cool.

Post pix when you get 'em.

Wait...you're going to darken/tint all the silver accents, then add polished wheels? Way too much bling for me (of course, just my opinion).

Smoking your fogs is possible, I did mine.

I did my tails, side markers, and turns on the 996

Who's stuff did you use? I've used VHT products before, their high temp header paint and it worked well.
ALso, how much does it "kill" the brightness of the lights?

I'd agree if the Carrera lightweights weren't such understated wheels. There's just not alot of metal there, to be seen. That's why I love the Carrera lightweights, they really look like a very light racing wheel and quite a number of race wheels have always been polished aluminum, for two reasons; they are easier to clean and easier to crack test.

edited for bear paw typing.

I used the VT niteshades. My side markers are VERY dark and pretty much useless durring the day. The blinkers front and rear had very little light loss.

Quickurt 06-29-2008 03:36 PM

The VHT nite shades is what I was going to use, too. The how to link I posted said to clear coat them afterwards, so I'll do the fogs and take them and all the grilles to my painter at the same time.
Call me crazy (well jmatta will call me "blingy" :D :D ) but I'm not going to do the sidemarkers or the tail lights. I like the color with the red calipers.
I think the silver grilles in the front and sides makes the boxster look less rich, or classy, however you want to describe it. I don't want to overdo it, so I'll do the grilles and fogs before going with the polished Carrera Lightweights. I may decide to go with the unpolished Carreras, time will tell.
My racing buddies can't believe how I am with the Boxster because my racing philosophy was "pretty doesn't make it fast". While they were repainting and polishing, I was developing, testing, trying different set-ups and buying lighter weight parts. Guess who won?

Max, if you were a girl, I would propose to you right now because of your 911 :D

and to top it off, you have an old Bronco w/ knobby tires in your garage..cool!

I found overlays for tailights for panameras on his thread at : http://www.decalfx.com/pre_cut_lens_film_kits.html

Guess what, they have smoke overlays for headlights AND fogs for $47.00.
Cheap way to see if I like it!!
