Conv cable snap?

Was putting up the top in the garage tonight when I heard a snap.

The back trunk section opened but the top would not engage and come out.

Sounds like a snapped cable. Is this is common problem and a quick fix at the dealer?

Car is still under original warranty

thanks

Not too common on newer 987's from what I haven't seen or read here on the forum.

I bet the dealer will have it fixed in one day when they get the part to replace it.

Just drop to your knees and thank God you have a warranty. The top assembly parts and repair costs can easily surpass the cost of a new engine in, say, a Toyota Camry.

One guy totally screwed up his top by running it when something snapped and it cost him $2,300.00

Like Randall, I have'nt heard of this on 987's. But be sure to check the alignment of the clamshell to ensure it did'nt bend or warp. I had the roof transmission cables snap on my 986 and luckily stopped the top before the clamshell bent. Repairs still totaled about $1500.00. Good luck!
