That always happens to me because I'm too lazy to tape the edges with blue painters tape. Takes two seconds and saves you a whole newe detailing project you don't need to do.

Have you tried Raggtopp? That's the only thing you should be using to clean the top with. Use a boars hair brush or an OXO feather tip. It will come out with warm water and Raggtopp. Rinse thoroughly and apply the Raggtopp protectant.

Isn't that what you were talking about when you talked about using the 2000 grit sand paper to take the "paint pimple" down flush? Shouldn't that be done with wet paper? Or were you talking about something different when you recommended against wet sanding?

Is there any wax that will last through a washing? I clay a couple times a year and then use Mother's Pre-cleaner then Sealer and Glaze finished with Carnuba liquid wax about once a month. Looks great and stands up to rain etc, but is instantly gone after hand washing with any car wash soap.

Frodo, when you said you were thinking about wet sanding I thought you meant wet sanding a large area. Wet sanding the small spec of touch up paint is fine. I'd start of with a really high grit and work down.

darkhamr, I use an acrylic wax from https://986forum.com/forums/finishkareusa.com called 1000P. It dries like cement. I use it as a base wax for long term protection. I'll use a spray wax over it (a booster) like an Aqua Wax from duragloss, a tremendous bargain for $8 in a big bottle. if you're having issues with the surface losing its slickness or accumulating dirt I would recommend using an ant-static spray like 425 from the finishkareusa site as your LSP (last step product). The longevity of these products is tremendous for the low prices. I buy 425 by the gallon and always keep a few bottles in the garage.

Heck no, I'm nervous enough just workin' on these little specks with sand paper. SANDING LARGE AREAS?! I'd be as likely to take a chain saw to it...
