I'm back!

Well, my three week trip to South Africa, Malawi, Paris and London is over and I'm home... kinda. The body and dirty laundry is here, but the jet lag hitting me right now has reminded me that I'm not completely back in Houston yet!

Boxster is filthy, sitting in garage. Must get it washed immediately.

Didn't see one Porsche in Malawi... saw a few beat up BMW's here and there, but no Pcars. Saw a couple of Carreras in Johannesburg, and just about every fine automobile imaginable in Paris and London (of course).

Welcome back.

while you have been gone i sold my boxster :o

edevlin 05-26-2008 12:41 PM

Welcome back, we just got back from a 2000 mile run down to Key West and back in the Boxster. The little beast was perfect on the trip. We did not use any oil at all and it ran like a top the whole time. BTW, only 200 miles of that 2000 mile trip with the top up.

I just finished washing, waxing and detailing the interior to get her back in shape after that trip. In two weeks we will be taking a 4000 mile trip out west in the Boxster, the miles just keep clicking along and so do the smiles....

Get rested, wash the Boxster then post those pictures.

Sounds like a great trip! I would love to see some pix when you get rested.

Welcome back!

Yes, Welcome Back, Randall. The neighbourhood has been a little empty without you.

How were the mice on a stick? Were they better with or without the "special sauce?"

Did you have a problem with hairballs after eating them?

Ah, the infamous mouse on a stick! Well Mark, I did not eat them this trip either, but I did discover that they are not just dead and placed on a stick. They boil them in salt water and THEN put them on the stick. Much more appetizing than "just dead" I think.

FTD 05-27-2008 10:05 AM

I was coming back to this thread to beg for trip pics, and open it to see the mice on a stick. Blech!
So please post pics - but skip what you had for dinner?

Here's a YouTube video of the trip we made into Kruger Game Park, a million square miles of fenced land that contains the big five as well as hundreds of other species of animals...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZO9DiXlaHE

The footage of the cheetah is flat amazing although my skills as a cameraman suck. There are only 1500 cheetahs in the park and very few people see one up close in the daytime. That animal must have been six feet long if it was an inch. I had no idea these cats were so friggin' HUGE!

Welcome back Randall!

Hope you had a nice trip!

Where did you stay/go in SA? I spent quite a while "commuting" there.

Did you happen to stop by the Ferrari dealership in Sandton or the InvestmentCars dealership outside Jo'burg?
There was an Enzo at the Ferrari dealership last time I was there & InvestmentCars has everything exotic...including helicopters.

Nice video Randall. Must have been quite an experience to see in person. I especially like the windshield-cleaning monkey.

Welcome back Randall

Excellent video, thanks for sharing. BTW, I too am a big Dire Straits fan. Those mice on a stick reminds me of the 4 weeks I spent in Thailand. Only it wasn't mice but rats on the grill. lol. Which I didn't eat either.

Welcome back.

jonnycool 05-30-2008 08:00 AM

lol, i'm back too from the Dominican Republic. i had to endure eating chicken, pineapple, steak chunks...ect on a stick and having to wash it all down with copious amounts of beer and cocktails!?!?! i think i picked up some kind of swelling disease as now my clothes no longer fit!!! I can also relate to the mice on the stick as one particular night felt like I had the said stick up my rear and was sloooowly turned as a family of mosquitos had a feast on me  (when i forgot to put on my mosquito spray)

a great place to visit especially if you like watching old MACK trucks (rubber duck style) driving really really REALLY fast!!!!! oh and a guy with 5 kids on a ....MOPED
