Need your opinion - Satellite Radio

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago to try in the car :

I really like it, but hate all the loose wires :

( Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic )

The advantage of course, is it is completely removable.

I was thinking of having this installed Saturday instead :

The nice thing is, you can change the backlight to match the gauges.

But, once it's installed, the car kit is permanent.

So, please vote and let me know your opinion...

Thanks,

Nick

Well let me just say that i have sirius radio in my car and love it! The route i went(which probably isn't the way you would go) is i got a whole new stereo headset from Pioneer that was "satelite radio ready".This alone made the normal radio sound 40% better. To add the sirius radio I had to get a sirius radio box that I mounted under my seat. I can clontrol my sirius channels through my normal headset. The sound is perfect, but its not as easy to use as the other methods, as you have a smaller LCD screen, etc. but its perfectly hidden.

I think in your case it depends on your driving style. If you autocross or are into similar performance driving, having the permenant one may be in the way. But if you cruise the streets calmly then the permenant one will look alot better.

Another option is you could run the "removable" ones wires through your dash, that would look better and still be removable.

We had XM in wife's Grand Cherokee. You are right about the wires. Our thought was we'd be able to move it from car to car. Which we never did. Alltho the FM modulator was irritating at times.

So we ordered her new X5 with built-in Sirius, and all is right with the universe. But it won't be there for a road trip in the Box.

I have been in the same boat for awhile, and I guess it really comes down to if you have multiple vehicles. While the exposed wires can get annoying, I bounce between using it in the Box to my truck when road trips involve hiking and off-roading to my girlfriends car (we'll be driving back to UT from Chicago for the summer.)
As far as the receivers go, the first one is nice because of the size, but I have the older version of the second one and you can't really beat it. Especially if you are into sports, it has the ticker streaming on the bottom. And the color backround is sweet as well.
