Brake vibration/rotor issue, need help : )
 

Just got a one owner 2004 Boxter S w only 11k miles

Above 50 there is noticeable vibration when braking even worse when braking from 70-80. The previous owner had the same issue and replaced the rotors at 7K under factory warranty. Only 4K later this vibration seems to still be there with hardly any wear on the new rotors...

Anyone else with this issue or thoughts?

Usual culprits:

Warped rotors

Contaminated pads

Bad tires or tire balance

Bad alignment

Bad control arm bushings

Check torque on the lugnuts. The rotors may warp if they're too tight or torqued unevenly. I think it's around 94ft lbs but someone else on the forum may know for sure.

I'm experiencing the same issue... but on a much older car with much higher mileage.

Due to small ridges in one of my front rotors that's missing from the other three rotors, which are brand new (400 miles on them), I am replacing the rotor.

However, a warped rotor is the fruit on my tree, not the root of the problem. Something warped that perfectly new and straight rotor.

I'm also rebuilding my calipers up front with new piston seals and dust boots in case a stuck piston is the root of the problem.

A worn bearing can be a root cause as well, but at 11k, the worn suspension parts and wheel bearings should not be your root issue. They're nearly new.

If I were you, I'd have the calipers inspected thoroughly before putting new rotors up front. No sense in throwing good money time and time again into the car.
