Just spent $150 on detailing supplies

oh boy I'm going to need a duffel bag for all this stuff

1)Klasse All in One (cleans the paint and polishes)
2)Klasse Selant Glaze (leaves a candy shell, very long lasting)
3)P21s Carnauba wax (kind of overkill)
4)Ragtop clenaser (endorsed by Hartz, manuf. of canvas)
5)Ragtop protectant
6)Sonus Clay (always before waxing)
7)1Z Cockpit Premium (haven't tried any of this Einzett stuff yet)
8)1Z Leather Care
9)1Z Perls Gloss Shampoo (leaves no residue)
10)Chenille Wash Sponge
11)Sonüs Der Wunder Applicator,
12)Sonüs Ultimate Drying Towel (dries everything in one pass)
13) Plexus (read a Boxster owner say this was the best "clearer than when the car left the factory, I got the pocket size)
14) Feather tip Oxo Brush (for softop)

The good news I no longer have a black car!

after I clean the silver Boxster it might actually stay
sparkling clean for two hours! :D

Barry Maguire would be very disappointed in your product selection ...
On the other hand, if all that stuff can turn a Boxster into a Carrera GT, I might go for it.

You forgot an item... Elbow Grease.
Have fun, you'll be well rewarded. ;)

PeterJoyce 11-16-2004 10:40 AM

I do not like anything Meguires makes. I only use Zymol, Tequipment, and some P21S.

Perfectlap 11-16-2004 10:59 AM

ah yes elbow grease. I'm very familiar with that product having endured a black daily driver four five years.
One of the articles from bettercarcare.com has a quick detaling method that promises to reduce washing the car if you use their 5 minute daily method. I'm going to give this a shot now that I have the "easy silver".

Barry Meguiar(sp?) is a good guy and makes good products but I find that they require more effort to remove and leave those little bits of annoying residue. For more frequent use I like the the higher end stuff.

Ronzi, I think that yellow is the best sports car color. Ferrari or Porsche yellow screams "SPORTSCAR"

zaino is the best product i ever used terms of durability of protection and shine. If you have a porter polish, the application for the zaino takes about 15 min.

I must have confused Barry Meguiar with Jerry Maguire of "show me the carnauba" fame.
I get all my Porsche stuff at Auto Zone, so that's why I use Meguiar's.
My wife will be pleased that someone else agrees with her about yellow. She said OK buy a damn Boxster then, but it's got to be Speed Yellow.

Perfectlap 11-18-2004 12:55 PM

I just detailed my friend's yellow 02 SLK with Klasse and Pinacle Souveran. It was like I added ten layers of new paint and clear coat and it didn't take very long. Yellow is the best....(too bad the Valentine One is required with it up here in NJ)

Ronzi 11-18-2004 02:25 PM

To paraphrase our esteemed president, you can run in a Speed Yellow Boxster, but you can't hide.

Perfectlap 11-19-2004 09:20 AM

defininitely not a good strategery for speeding.
