Top Won't Close
I had the passenger side airbag deactivation done today. When I got home the top would not close. A little while later it would close. I let it sit and then it would not close again. Could it be related to the reprogramming? Any ideas on this one? Unfortunately , I don't have a manual. I noticed a wire that plugs in on the drivers side right behind the driver's seat belt. There are actually two plugs right next to each other. Are these involved in powering the top?

Manual, or trip?
Probably a intermittent micro-switch in the parking brake. Very common (and annoying) issue. First verify the "Park" light illuminates when you engage the parking brake... |

Yeah, many of us has experienced it. There are multiple threads & posts on the subject scattered throughout this and the other porsche forums.
Like the annoying toilet you mean to fix, occasioanlly you have to just "jiggle the handle" a bit to get it working again. ;) |
Im also currently experiencing this problem.
And its extremely annoying, especially because we are experiencing some unseasonally warm weather here in Melbourne. In my case, the handbrake light does come on. I recently had 18inch wheels fitted. However, they had to clip the handbrake cable to a part of the car so it didnt hit the tyre. Can this be the problem?? |
Nope it shouldnt be a problem so long it stays out of the way of the tire and doesnt get chafed to death by whatever you teathered it with.

can it be intermittent micro-switch in the parking brake then? even though the brake light works on the dash? |
+ the handbrake switch is actuated by the handle not the cable. Second most likely culprit is the sensor/switch in the top latch receptacle.
Try this, with the windows up (and doors closed) pull up on the handbrake, ensure that the "Park" light is on, then pull down the top latch... Do the windows drop down? |

Yes, when i pull the latch down the windows do drop a few centimetres. But unfortunately the roof doesnt follow suit. any other suggestions?? Appreciate your help by the way. |
