How many miles per year does your Boxster acquire?
Garage queen or driving machine?
|
The previous owner averaged 2k miles a year, I have had the car for one year and put on about 10k miles.
|
7.5k/year It's driven year round.
|
previous owner - 4,000/yr
me - 1,400/month so far LOL |
15k+ for me it's a daily driver and a daily fun machine.
|
i voted for under 3K... but over 50% of that is driving to and from autox and at the autox. : )
|
Under 3k for me. '99, bought new, less than 26k mi. to date.
It's not a Garage Queen by intent, but it's not a daily driver (I office from home). It is stored each snowy, cold, winter - because you can't drive it as intended in the weather we get so what's the point? And, I have several other toys which merit their share of attention too. In fact, I've decided that this year is a test year. What with the price of fuel and such, if I don't use it much this year, I think I'm gonna time capsule it and sell it in 10-20 yrs. and double whatever I could get for it today. |
I put close to 30K on the car in the less than two years I have owned it. I plan on putting on 6K or more in the next two months, yikes,
Ed  |
Mine is a driving machine that I treat like a garage queen!
I did about 7,000 miles my first year. Did just over 10,000 miles last year, with a trip to The Tail of the Dragon. Keep in mind, I drive my car about once per week and only from April till October. I'll take it out on a Saturday morning and do 400 miles, be parked in the garage by 3:00 PM. |
Bought the car 4/14/06 with 28k miles
Car had 49k miles as of 4/14/08 So, 21k miles in 24 months = 10.5k mi / year ( and I don't drive it in the winter  ) Nick |
4-5k per year here. It is a weekend toy only. I use it once or twice a week for joyrides and a little canyon carving year around. I hate driving it on crowded stop and go LA freeways. Still the most fun car I have ever owned.
|
15k+ per year :-).Its made to be driven, not develop a thin coat of rust & dust & cat hair. ;)
|
+1 on 15k+/yr ...
CJ, you put it as elloquently as ever ... the way I see it, life is too short! |
Previous owner - 5,000/year
Me - 1,000 to 1,500/ year Not that I try not to drive it, just have several toy cars and I don't drive that much. I don't even drive my daily more than 10,000/year. One cool thing about not driving it that much is that when I do drive it, it's like driving a new car that amazes me and makes me a giddy kid. |
I'm demoting my to Spring and Summer driving only. I've been tracking my mileage and its seems like more miles are coming from winter and fall use.
I'm going to pick up one of those dirt cheap 996's for cold weather. No sense tearing up my baby. :p |
This thread has reminded of a line I read from a member on here, carguy.
"My theory is no one will ever be on their death bed and say "boy am I glad I didn't drive the Porsche more!"." |
i bought my box last summer with 41k on the clock.. about 8 monts later its up to 47k. so im right up to a little over 6k per year. -- for now i drive it mainly on weekends and take anywhere from 100-150 mile day trips

I just passed my first month of PCar ownership. Already put 3000 miles on my Boxster S. At this rate I will drive 36000 in a year. I commute to work every day and take any opportunity to drive anwhere. I have driven to far east Texas for some BBQ, and to New Orleans for a company convention. My previous 3 cars were a 2000 nissan maxima, a 1998 GMC sonoma, and a 1991 Ford Tempo. I'm sure you all understand. I am making up for 10 years of lost driving fun... :o
|
Over this past winter, I put 5K on the clock. I plan on driving the wheels, fenders, bumpers, seats, mirrors, exhaust, and everything else off of this car until I'm sitting in a pile of dust somewhere :)
|
I haven't even had mine a month, so I voted based on the previous mileage I put on my last car, which was about 10,000 per year. It's my daily driver, so it should be about the same.
|
2002 S...just ticked over 13k miles. Sits in the garage with my 911 waiting to be driven, but nice days only. Most miles get racked up to and from my Wisconsin home in Elkhart Lake; a two hour drive from home. 17 year old son will be doing his first autocrass in the car April 27...should be a blast. 911 is relegated to mostly track duty.
|
MY job makes it impractical to use it for work but I do try to drive it about twice a week. So I'm guessing about 3k~5K/year. This summer will be my first summer with the car so I anticipate it will get a lot of use. I plan on going to 'Tail of the Dragon' sometime in July and again in sept. with the rest of you forum guys. Right now the pollen is soooo bad in my area that it's in the garage until the end of April. Pollen leaves a thick yellow film on all cars just overnight.
But as some have already said I will not find myself saying later " Damn I wish I had driven that car more often". |
Bought mine in June 2001, now has 68,100 miles, so about 10,000 per year.
|
5000 miles/year, 21k in 4 years. Mostly I just don't drive it enough!
|
Miles to go...
I bought my first Porsche (used) in December and I have 1k on her so far this winter. This summer should see another 4k for a total of 5-6k this year. It sure cured my midlife crisis!
Total milage to date= 97.5K |
Test

This is for testing....... |
Mine had averaged about 2k/yr until I bought it last May. I really didn't expect to drive it as much as I have - 10k since then - but I just can't stand not to drive it for more than a few days. Broke down and got a second set of wheels so I could have all-seasons for the winter and F1s for the summer.
