and the vid.
ran 15.3. really no traction, first day, no rubber laid down, so everyones time was off. people spilling all kindsa fluids all over the track, and 2-3 hr wait to get another run in wasn't worth it...so here it is, first and last time at the track with this car haha.
View My Video

a lot of people came up to me and said they loved the car and wanted to know what it would run. no problems at all.

on the way back home, there was a kid in a 70s formula that prolly cost him 2-300 bux, rusted to hell, who decided to cut me off on the road that leads out to the street, before you pass the gates, and went on the side in the mud and started burning out and shooting mud all over my car, so i sped up to talk to him, and i said hey man u know ure shooting mud all over my car? he looks at me (hes probably 16) and hes like so what? im liek well its not cool man. hes like man u suck, with the money u spent on that car y didnt u buy a real car? all i said was " like yours?" and he gunned it trough more mud. idiot. but other than that it was fine.

on the way back home my buddies were kinda racing trough traffic and being not so smart, so someone called the cops and said that there are some people with numbers on their back windows drag racing on the street, so as we are sitting at the light i see the cops pull up behind my friend, and my radar went nuts, so all i did was lower my top (with the number on the vinyl window), and they got pulled over, but i didnt heheh. classic. cop just looked at me, and went around me and pulled my friend that was in front of me makes a good story at least

cool pix, i went as well with my bro & his car...it wasn't all that great so i probably wont be taking my car out- only been to the track with the box once. I used to go more frequently when had my corvette, i guess it makes more sense.
It was nice weather at least, for a change...

Sorry about your incident with the little idiot, i hate ignorant people like that

Hey DJ, I'm proud of ya. Pretty smooth run---no missed shifts or anything!

My kid took his stripped down Celica to a local strip---eventually ran a 14 flat. (I was pretty impressed.) Despite goading from his friends, I elected NOT to run the Boxster, though I'd have been curious what I would have run. And part of the reason was that I was convinced I'd miss a gear shift, or worse...STALL at the starting line. Maybe someday...especially if the cost of a replacement clutch (and rubber) ever comes down. (Not holdin' my breath.)

Thanks! Great photography as usual. The pictures are so clear. Nice video too. What kind of equipment do you use to get the video? Just mount a regular handycam somehow?

thx guys.

camera is mounted with a suction cup camera mount, on the windscreen between the roll hoops.

Is it a sticky pod?

djomlas 04-08-2008 05:45 PM

it looks like this.
you can point it any way u want, pretty nice piece, not expencive either. and it holds so good, i think that you can rip the mounting tabs off the windscreen before that thing lets go.

Nice pix, do you use a point and shoot for all those great photos you take?

Too bad it's not legal to beat the crap out of stupid little kids in their beaters...

Very cool!

BTW, did your friend ever finish her painting of your car???....maybe I missed that thread if you already posted it.

djomlas 04-09-2008 12:02 AM

dcporsche99,
no she still didn't, shes very busy, but i keep bugging her about it every week, so she will crack one of these days hehe.

boxs2000,
i use a Fuji finepix s5700 and love it.

also, post processing is a big thing as well, as i see it, its only half the shot to take a pic, and other half is how to process it to make it look good, crop the un-necessary stuff out, and sometimes clone out some things that dont belong in the shot

Actually, DJ, talked to the kid and found out I had lied to you (unintentionally---just remembered it wrong). He actually ran a 14.6 (I thought 14 sounded a bit fast). Anyway, he wanted me to ask: What was your trap speed? and what was your 60' time? (If you still know.)
