I do not think that the GT2 would be a fair comparison. It does qualify as the best Porsche has to offer. In the recent write up in Excellence, Walter Rohl was able to push the GT2 faster around the Nurburgring than the almighty Carerra GT.

However, the GT2 costs... oh $191,000 without the dealer mark up. While the Z06 as well as the Nissan cost about $75,000 - 80,000 without the dealer mark up. The 911 turbo is about $125,000. Like jmatta, I wonder why they did not compare the 911 GT3 instead of the turbo. I know it would have been left behind in straight line acceleration but it would have given the GT-R some competition around the race track. Besides, the GT3 costs less... $104,000. It would have been interesting.

They compared it to the 997 Turbo because that's the car Nissan cited as their benchmark. If Nissan wouldn't have mentioned the 997 Turbo, they probably wouldn't be comparing it to a Porsche at all.

Street car or race car - which are you buying?

I wonder what small percentage of people who buy either the GTR, Porsche, or Corvette will actually race their cars. Probably less than 1/2 of 1 percent. So who really cares which one is faster? People with big egos and small d**ks, that's who.

The reality is that any of these cars are faster than Pamela Anderson after a bottle of Jose Cuervo; and can get you in trouble quicker than a 16 year old porn star with an 1/8 of Columbian marching powder.

Personally what's important to me is the connection between the car and driver. For that I think the Porsche wins hands down. And if bang for the buck is important then get a 987/987C instead of that 997tt.

Very true, renzop. Honestly my base Boxster is fast enough for me, not that I'd turn down a 997 Turbo if I had the money.
