Have you replaced the battery? It's done by pressing the somewhat hidden button then carefully separating the halves. If the battery is OK, try putting the key in the door and cycling the locks or starting the car, see if that restores the function.

I assume you mean the buttons on the keys don't remotely operate the locks but it still works if you put he key in the keyhole.

If EE3racing's suggestion doesn't work, you may want to try going to a dealer and see if it's programmed correctly. I know that it's possible to have it set where the trunk releases don't work but the ingnition still does. Perhaps the same thing can be done with the doors - but there still has to be some minimal programming for the car to be able to start.

I believe if the car sits for a while, a few days, the remote is disabled. Do as EE3 suggest and cycle it through the door locks a few times and see if it comes back. If not then I'd check the battery. Good luck!

Try putting the key in the driver's door, lock the vehicle manually by turning the key, remove the key wait a minute or two then reverse the steps and unlock the vehicle, after that try it via the key remote, good luck.

It's not the key, but the car. Basically you have a transmitter (Key) and a receiver (Car).

In order for the system to work, the receiver in the car has to be listening for the signal from the transmitter (Key).

This means that the receiver has to be on, drawing power, even if the key isn't transmitting.

Over time, this will help run down the car battery (the Alarm and some other circuits remain 'live' too, but can't be cut-off), so Porsche has set the receiver to shut off after 120hrs. (5 days) if the Key transmitter hasn't been used.

To reactivate it, you need to unlock the car manually and start the car. If it's not the battery in the Key (Litium CR 2032 3-volt), or some other issue, this should restore normal operation.

Thanks lil bastard and EE3, so your saying lock the car and start it and it should work? Ive been doing that for a couple days and still nothing? or do i have to unlock and lock and start in a specified time? Also it might not be the battery bc the lil red light flashes when i hit it, thanks again for your help guys.
