Transmission Help, Please.

hi everyone, i own a well kept 1997 boxster with only 26000 miles, mine is a tiptronic. while i was driving on the highway, at about 70mph my car out of a sudden, just had a quick jerk as i accelerated to pass another car. Out of a sudden my 4th gear was flashing and my speed had drop to 65, I drove for a couple miles, got off the road, turn it off and did a restart and the car was fine for about 6 month and the car just did thesame thing again. took it to our local porsche dealer, and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car.The manual says the car goes into 4th gear as a safety measure, to protect your transmission from any damage.Well,my dealers hasn't being of any help, so any good ideas or have any of you experience this? thanks kindly for the help

Transmission fluid???

Hello.
Did they check the condition and the level of the ATF fluid?
I think that after 11 years, you maybe need a tranny fluid change.
At higher speed the transmission need a lot of oil, and sometime
even a very small leak over the years can cause a low tranny fluid.
It's an easy DIY, and you can use VW/Audi oil G052162A02 or
Pentosin ATF1 since it's cheaper an it's the same as the Porsche one.
The ZF 5hp19 transmission was also installed in the VW Passat and Audi A4.

Good luck

Be Carefull...

BE CAREFULL...
They have the same components, but not the same core.
So you have to swap the bad component from your tranny.
good luck

At the very least, you want to service that tranny.

I recommend a Red Line synthetic ATF for the service. Also change the filter.

Then, see how it goes.
