Anyone know the part number of the 2 button remotes that will work for a 97 boxster?

I bet you saw the serveral cheap new remotes on ebay like I did. They will not work on a 1997. 1997 is a unique year and the 1998-2000 2 button remotes will not work on our cars.

If there is another reason for your question then I will look up the 1997 part number, but the remote you want ain't on ebay.

Actually, I would love the exact part number for a two button remote head for a 1997. I've got a source for one aside from the dealer and need to get it just right.

Here is what the PET is telling me; sorry mine does not have the number.

97 1 M 535 986.637.243.00, .01 remote control .

I bought one that has a tag that reads:

986.637.243.01

Will it work?

I also see 986 637 243 01 for a 1997.

In order to program the key head you need the paper tag for that key head with the bar code and the 24 digit code on the tag.

yipee! Just bought a 2 button key head off ebay for $50 with the exact part number listed here, and it has the programming tag.

The guy who sold it to me called me to tell me he's a porsche technician in upstate NY and guarantees it's the right one.
