First oil change on this porsche
Hi, i'am in the process of changeing the engine oil my first time on this porsche 03boxster.After taking off main plug and oil filter ,isnt there suppost to be a alumiun ring around the main plug and a rubber ring around the oil filter housing cap thingy? Also the oil filter looks a bit smaller but wider in the middle then the 996 107 225 53 new one i have.I 'am guessing the rings where'nt replaced? Doesnt have any oil leaks, but where do i put those new rings? Its jsut hard to c under the car just using jacks on one side.

Hey, how did you get the oil filter off? By hand or did you purchase an oil filter wrench? I'm about to change my oil for the first time this evening. Most of the post that I have seen about changing oil have involved a Porsche Oil Filter Wrench however I can't seem to locate this thing.

There is a metal washer on the drain plug that should be replaced with change. Also a rubber gasket at the top of the filter cover.
The wrench abd other supplies are show here: http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=P&Category_Cod e=986maint |
i took filter off bye hand.
