OK. Finally, it wasn't one of the cylinders but the spring. So sad the towing to this stealership was for free and towing to a real mechanic would have almost cost me the difference anyway.

The bottom line was $700 (including parking brake adjustment. But that's just mentioned to make me feel better )

It's often recommended when replacing either hydraulic component of the system (master cylinder / slave cylinder) to replace them both at the same time.

This is because the old part receives added resistance from the new, stronger part and will usually fail in short order.

It does add slightly to the expense, but you save on having only 1 tow and only need to bleed the system once. This also makes the system work 100% new again.
