Coolant mixing??
 

My coolant is low and I don't know what it has in it. I need to add some more coolant so the light quits flashing. Will it be ok if i just put some zerex and be ok??

I'd recommend toping off with distilled water until you get the problem fixed.

I wouldn't keep topping it off with distilled water over and over,maybe just once or twice,find out why it's leaking coolant and fix it.

DO NOT PUT ANY OLD ANTIFREEZE IN YOUR BOXSTER!

It must be a phosphate-free antifreeze. Mixing regular antifreeze with p-f antifreeze will create a gell that will clog your system. Zerez makes a couple p-f antifreezes, so be sure you have the right one for your Boxster (1 version is for pre-1996 Porsches). Haveline Dex-cool will work and is easy to find.

hmmm...where do u get distilled water from?

The local Grocery Store. I think I paid $1.25 for a gallon last week.

Also check under your carpet inin the trunk under the tank for coolant. As you may know, a cracked coolant tank and resultant leak is almost a certainty at some time of the boxster's life.

Carpet was dry in both trunk and behind passenger seat. The car sat for a few hours and i moved it and there was a very small puddle at what looked to be in the center of where the car was and directly beneath the engine. Put a splash of water in and took care of the flashing temp light (for now) but have not gotten under the car for a closer look yet. Any thoughts on what it could be? Bad hose?

With my expansion tank leak the trunk carpet was dry but there was a pool of coolant under the carpet on the metal of the trunk floor. I'm not saying that is the problem with your car, just saying that to rule out the expansion tank you'll have to look under the carpet because the carpet can be dry.

Good advice, check under the Trunk floor. If none is found, and if it were me, I'd pull the Oil Dipstick (assuming you have one) and make sure you're not running a cappucino emusion because coolant is passing by one of your head gaskets and mixing with the engine oil. Absent a Dipstick, I'd drain the Oil and look for the tell-tale signs of a headgasket leak, then dump the Oil back in if it's not time for a change. The coolant has to be going somewhere and a leaky headgasket can cause all sort of internal engine damage to bearings, cams, etc.
