what is with people???
I've had my boxster since October, and I'm getting tired of people asking me if my car is a.....
- Corvette - Miata - Firebird Those are the three I've gotten so far. I hate to be an ass when people ask me, but I'm an import enthusiast and wouldn't be caught dead driving a firebird. "NO, IT'S A PORSCH-A" :troll: Anyone have any similar experiences? |
Apparently these folks can't read the work Porsche on the trunk?
Consider the source and just be glad you have a great ride! :D |
Josh, you need to make some lemonade from those lemons, my friend! :)
That's part of the charm and fun with owning our cars...a lot of people don't know what they are. This is a good thing, in my book. Just smile, and say, "No, it is a Porsche. Have a great day. Thanks". |
yeah, the firebird last night really hit me hard... i don't want people to think i'm driving one of these:

some guy in the Diner I was in came over and said "whose Toyota Spyder is out there with the lights on?"...
|
Josh, I can bet ya the Firebird owner does not have people thinking he owns a Porsche!
PL, why are you eating in a diner? You own Apple stock! :) Plus you are a healthy eater. |
Josh, one more bit of advice. If a hot chick ever says this "firebird stuff" to you, look at her, make good eye contact, and say with a straight face, "No, it is a Porsche. Would you like to go for a spin someday......topless!" And then see how she responds. :)

wow, thats never happened to me but i cant believe people could mistake a corvette or firebird or even a miata for a boxster. Porsche has such a distinct look. I like american muscle but it would piss me off if someone asked me if i drove a firebird lol just because its so off.
Although dont worry about it the people who mistake that dont know a car from a ship so its nothing that should bother you. |
Cant blame people really. I've had my boxster since August and I've seen maybe 2 or 3 on the road since then. Boxsters are rare sights on the road. Anyone who mistakes a Firebird for a boxster obviously doesn't know much about cars , period. I wouldnt worry about it. Just relax and know you are driving one nice piece of auto.

Hey, even car enthusiasts make mistakes...I came out of the gym the other day and saw a car with 4 vents up near the front fender...I immediately thought it was a Buick Lucerne (I rented one for a business trip a couple months back) and when i got behind it I was it was a Maserati. How would you like someone to mistake your Maserati for a Buick?
|
not to be a stickler to Bruce, but I don't think it says porsche on the back, unless its custom....I haven't seen pics of his ride
I only say this cause I gave a girl a ride home on monday, and she was like wow, nice car....then said I've never been inside a porsche before.....which was impressive to me since I think the only visible porsche emblems would have been the center caps on the tires...which are covered in blue plastic...too lazy to peel off...or the steering wheel... so I thought, wow, chick knows her cars.... you'll be fine Josh, most people are curious and guess the brands they know...the cool thing is that they are impressed with your car... |

I don't have the "Boxster S" badge on my trunk lid. I run naked ;) . In fact, the only place on my car that says "Porsche" might be the glass rear window, and that is usually down & stowed.
But it amazes me how many people instantly recognize the Porsche crest on the front trunk. |

Maybe he meant Pontiac Solstace :) |

How easy can this be? :D |
I had a guy say, "Sweet Lotus". That isn't an insult though.

5,000 posts. congrats |
Never had someone ask if my car was anything along the lines of a Toyota Spyder or Firebird, but since I also run a naked rear I have been asked if my car is a 911 a few times.
