This morning Porsche published a new (very long) press release on the new 987/987S. Along with the press release are 28 new official photos.
Press Release: http://definitely.com/2005boxster/PM_Box_BoxS_GB.pdf WALLPAPER GRAPHICS (32 TOTAL): http://definitely.com/2005_boxster_wallpaper/ Also stay tuned for news at the Paris Auto Show this weekend. Rumor has it the 987 will debut there. In the past Porsche has also done a live web cam feed from certain auto shows, so stay tunred to the Porsche website too. I bet they do it this time with both the 997 & 987. Oh yeah... almost forgot. My dealer sent me the prliminary order guide for the 987S and I wanted to see the one for the 987. I went looking online and found both. No prices for options yet. Here are links: 987: http://definitely.com/2005boxster/05_987_Boxster_Order_Guide.pdf 987 S: http://definitely.com/2005boxster/05_987_Boxster_S_Order_Guide.pdf |
A little something for everyone.
- - - - - - - - - - - - 19,000 miles between oil changes 40,000 miles on air filter lower seats (4 choices) Higher, squarer farther back roll hoops (helps w/ broomstick rule) crossover pipe in exhaust (more torque & HP) Optional 6 speed transmission (Base & S) Optional Ceramic Brakes (S) 7200 RPM in Base engine slightly wider track Optional Porsche Active Suspension Management(PASM) Improved fuel economy Lower/raise top while moving (something I enjoy) |
The best news:
- S gets new 6 speed tranny. Mis-matched 996 tranny on underpowered 986S finally remedied. - base gets new optimised 5 speed tranny. Good thing, since new 987 base has 20HP more than 986 base, it needs different optimised gears from the 986. - 280HP for S, which I consider the minimum respectable amount of power. Anything less than 280HP is underpowered, yes including my base (at least it has a matched tranny vs. mis-matched tranny of 986S). I am still thinking about upgrading to the 987S. I really wish it had 300HP and I suspect it will in 1 - 2 years. So who here is going to upgrade? |
Just picked up the 2000 Boxster, but ask me again in 5 years when this one is all paid off. :-)
Oh, and by then I will have jumped 2 paygrades. ;-) Woo hoo! |
