blkboxster 12-25-2007 12:08 PM

yeah, what do i buy to lower the car, springs? Coils. idk?? and how long or how much would a shop charge me? and whats a good brand.

Gary in BR 12-25-2007 04:15 PM

Coilovers will run over your $1000 including install.

You can pick up a set of second hand springs pretty cheap. I had a set of Elbachs I let go for a few hundred. And, I think brand new they are below $1000.

Currently I am running a set of coilovers and with instal I am in the 2k range.

I agree lower the car.

blkboxster 12-25-2007 04:44 PM

DAMN thats expensive, :( so thats out, any other suggestions?

RandallNeighbour 12-25-2007 04:52 PM

If you don't have aftermarket headers, I'd get those if I were you. More power, better sound, and well within your budget incl. the install.

If you've already done this, then DJ's recommendation to rid your car of amber is a great idea. It really made my car look five or more years younger.

Oh, one more idea... invisible bra might not be a bad idea if your paint work is pristine right now.

Jeph 12-25-2007 06:45 PM

Springs alone and lowering/alignment should be under $1k, right guys?
I'm all on board for clear headlights, or better yet, splurge a tad more and get Litronics.
Another idea... lose the "worm anus" tail pipe and get S exhaust.

you can get eibach springs for like 250 or so and install them yourself, then just go and get an alignment done.
you can pickup a set of clears for 400 or so on ebay.

so thats like 650 plus another 100 or so for a good alignment.
that leaves you enough to get non amber tail lights and side markers...

and headers sound good as well...just pick your priorities man

wow 25hp!!! thats awesome, the price is pretty high, but thats a option.

NickCats 12-26-2007 09:41 AM

So let me get this straight, 25 hp from the TurboWerks headers and another 18 hp from the Softronic ECU flash ?

http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14671&page=1&pp=20

If this is true, I know where my bonus money is going this year !

$1700 for 43 hp ???

Nick

blkboxster 12-26-2007 09:58 AM

Nick, good point, thats alot of hp, and they seem legit, if it all works out we could have 244hp :D

bmussatti 12-26-2007 11:14 AM

Take the $1,000 and spend it on gas, hotels and some good meals. You need a road trip, man!

Nick,
I think someone was smoking some serious crack when they came up with those numbers. If it was really true it would be the first time in automotive history that a N.A. car gained 20%hp with chip and headers. 5-10hp has been reported consistently. Let the buyer beware.

rick3000 12-26-2007 12:55 PM

I agree, if you get that much more HP for that little everyone would do it. You might be able to get an extra 5+ HP but it doesn't really seem worth it for $1700.
Happy Holidays!
