Parked Boster won't unlock with remotes
Parked 01 Boxster S for 2 weeks with the Porsche approved battery tender pluged into the cig lighter.
Car was locked by remote Battery conditioner shows battery fully charged Sunny day in Portland today, went out to start the Porsche. Can't turn off the alarm with any of my keys. No messages on dash visible through window. LED on dash blazing brightly LED on all keys comes on when pushed HELP Jerry H. |
The alarm goes into "sleep" mode if the car hasn't been started for 5 days IIRC. You should be able to open / unlock the door w/ the key and start the car as normal. If once you have opened the door w/ the key and the car still will not start, then there is a problem. Are you sure the batter has a charge?

Thank you Aron for the education. Sleep mode, hmmmm, OK
Unlocked the driver door with the key, the horn beeped just once. Entered and started her up. The "key" icon button on thr right side of the dash was lite. I open and shut the drivers right door from the inside. The "key" icon button light went out. All works fine now. I will remember the alarm "sleep mode" Jerry H. |

If your 986 hasn't been turned on for 7 days, the car automatically disables the remotes. You've gotta go in and turn the key in the door. After that, you should be all good. |

Sleep mode
My boxster has now twice gone into this mode after being left in my garage for 5+ days. First time got a Porsche mecahanic to get into front bonet from under wheel arch via emgency pull cord - took hours and cost me loads. Just had to do same again - painful again !
Can't understand why my key doesn't unlock door manually, as we only use remote normally. Could this be part of my problem ? Seems others can get back into their boxsters and start as normal when in sleep mode by using key manually. Any thoughts please ? Thank in advance. |
