I want to do my brakes this winter, I want to refinish the calipers so I'd like to completely remove them. If anyone has done this how did you deal with the open brake lines? I am assuming draining the system to complete air would be bad, if it isn't I need to know that too.

Regarding the stainless, I noticed Porsche has already placed a wire coil over the rubber in what appears to be an attempt to limit swell. Has anyone done this job? Other than cosmetics was there any perceptible difference? Lastly, best street pads opinions welcome..

I removed my calipers a couple of years ago to paint them. Many just tape off the surrounding parts. I wasn't in a hurry so I took them off and worked on cleaning, painting and applying decals over a couple of weekends. Once I reinstalled the calipers I just replaced the fluid using a power bleeder.

Your car looks great. What type of front bumper cover is that? Can you post more pictures?

Thanks for the nod on the looks of my ride. The bumper cover is a factory 911 GT3 (at least that's what they said and it does have the Porsche factory part number on it). I'm waiting for the chin spoiler as I type this. I'm down with the motive bleeder, I'm wondering how people sealed the ends where the caliper joins the brake line, while they removed the entire caliper. I erased a lot of my good pics, I'll be working on improvements on the next pics in sig, I'll make the current one bigger when I get a chance. I'm also changing it a bit this winter in Spring I'll post the results.

I like that GT3 nose a lot! I may need one of those.

If I understand your question correctly about the brake lines there is nothing special to do when you disconnect them to remove the calipers. There may be a little leakage initially, but it won't drain your master cylinder. At least I didn't have any problems.

Someone please correct me if something special should happen in this situation.

I'm using Ferrodo pads. No noise and low dust. Very happy with them.
