Raggtopp Overkill

I still can't work or drive, but I'm feeling better and bored. Today, I decided to apply some Raggtopp Protectant before I con my friend into helping me put the hardtop on for the winter. I've never used this stuff before, so here's how I prepped the car.

First, I opened the top a bit and pulled plastic two drop cloths through the interior and down into the convertible top well...



Then I closed the top and the windows...



Then I taped up the trim and covered the rear window with butcher paper...



Then I sprayed the top. Why am I tellling you this? Because, you really don't need to do all of that. The stuff doesn't really fly around that much. Well, if nothing else, it killed a couple of hours. Daytime TV sucks.

yep i think thats a over kill but, wow you car is clean!!!! There is now way it look like a 97 look more like a 2004 .. anyway thanks for sharing .

Wow, Griz, you MUST be feeling better. Good for you. I sort of did the same thing the first time I used RaggTopp, but instead of drop cloths I used overlapping layers of newspaper along the top of the windshield and over the windows, and blue taping some at the back, below the rear window.

It was pretty easy, and worked well, but I mashed the HELL out of one of my fingers in the process. I was putting the newspaper over one of the windows, which was down the 1/2" or so it normally goes down when the door is open or, as in this case, isn't latched tightly closed. While the victim-finger was above the top of the glass I STUPIDLY leaned against the door, closing it with predictable results. Those window motors are quite a bit more powerful than I had realized. (I've mashed a finger a number of times through the years swinging a hammer, but that pain was never any worse than with Boxster window incident.)

Frodo...OUCH!!! Power windows can be nasty little buggers. Yeah, I'm doing much better. I can't sit or stand for too long, but all in all, not bad. I'm still taking several whirlpools a day. They seem to help for about 30 minutes after I get out. Then I tighten right back up.

DJ, I lucked into that hardtop rack on ebay. It was brand new in the box, with the cover, for under $100. I really like it because I didn't lose any floor space. I have a lot of junk. I need my floor space!

Hey Frodo! I got a new picture of our new Peke, taken yesterday. Doesn't she look good? All of her hair is coming in nicely. She was spayed this morning and should be ready to travel on the 13th.



The bottom photo is what she looked like when she was seized. I don't know how the Animal Police do that job. I would beat somebody to death.

Unfortunately, its not overkill. I think what you pictured is standard operating procedure to apply Ragg Topp.


3 coats? I ended up using 2/3rds of a bottle to do it. It has a pretty strong smell too while drying.
