Replacing Carpet with Leather Upholstery
I just recently finished painting the majority of my interior trim (typical pieces) to match the exterior paint and I was considering another interior modification project. It turned out great and I saved a ton of cash from not buying the prepainted items piece by piece. Thanks for all the advice guys.
So now I'm looking for my next project. I was thinking of replacing the carpet on the lower half of the door panels and the carpet on the wall behind the seats with leather. Has anyone seen this done or done it themselves that might have any advice? I just purchased 40 sq feet of black upholstery leather off of ebay and read the posts on removing the door panels. I'm ready to get started!
I dunno. I think it would look sexy. Thoughts?

I'd like to see you do it, I am all for someone doing something no one has done yet. The closest I have seen to this is the guy who put 6 speakers into his doors.
I think you should do the leather!!

also, do the rear carpet, the cover for engine where the seats recline back into.
i wanted to do that, in my old car i made a little logo in there from cardboard and foam, looked pretty slick.
heres what that looked like, as you can see the car got a boner after the leather

I went to see a car reupholsterer after I saw the interior of the carrera gt. I you check out the gemaballa porsche gt, the rear behind the seats is done in red leather in a diamond stitch pattern. I asked how much to do the seats and the rear. The guy said $2000.00. Too rich for my blood, but the pattern looks great.
