Who's got the guts? 3.8l
This seems reasonable for a 997 crate engine brand new. It would make for a hell of a conversion if it is possible

It will fit, but it's a lot of work. FVD put one in a 986 for a guy. The thread is over on 6speed in the Boxster-Cayman section. I just read it last night. The owner says it goes like hell.

Isn't RUF doing the conversions? You'd most likely need a later donor and preferably an S. Still would be cheaper than building a killer 911.

Thats what I'm thinking. A flagship porsche motor mounted where it needs to be mounted. Could you imagine how a boxster would handle it?
Say it costs 15k to convert a 15k donor car with a blown engine. For 30k, you would be running circles around 911s all day at the track. Oh well, I will keep on dreaming on. |

Dave the guy in Jersey that had FVD do the 3.8 x-51 conversion and I have spoke many many times about this. Let me just say that the tuning was a little more then dyno time. FVD US could not get it done so they sent the whole car to Germany on their coin. If you have a 987 this would be much better then a 986. If anyone has anymore questions let me know. As of right now the sc and the 3.4 and 3.6 on the later cars are the best choice.
