Lots of brake $$ing info here, check Sunset Porsche too for potential better pricing:

Shouldn't there be some PCCB rotors out there somewhere? They may be a little pricey, but excepting track use they will probably last you forever:)

I'm actually about to install a new set of Zimmerman cross drilled rotors all around on the S, along with Pagid Blue RS4-2-1 pads. These pads should give a little better stopping power than stock while still being gentle on rotors while cold.

I've seen solid non-drilled rotors on some sites, even for S models. I don't know that I'd go backwards on the S, but I would think that for normal street use that solid rotors would be fine on a base model.

Looks like a bit over 800 bucks for parts alone. I think I'll be doing the labor myself... brakes just aren't difficult. Besides, I have a giant stockpile of Ate brake fluid for my track car.

What makes you think they aren't as stong as they should be? How many miles on the pads? rotors? how old is the brake fluid?

"best" is somewhat subjective.. but more importantly, how will you be using the brakes? High speed track events? commuting? There are lots of compromises made to make an OEM brake system, but Porsches have great brakes to begin with. Improving them may not be that easy.

Also realize that TIRES can make as big (or bigger) an impact on your braking since they are the only element of the car that touches the road. When I went from street tires to my R comp tires for Autocross, I noticed much improved braking performance in that the ABS wasn't triggered as early or frequently under heavy braking.
