Cigarette lighter replacement

I ordered a new cig lighter assembly and can't figure out how to remove old one (socket part). I got the new lighter and the socket it plugs into. Anyone ever pull old socket out??

Pry off the plastic sleeve which holds the light then you have to pinch the edges of the socket housing from behind the plastic trim and push forward.

CJ, do you mean pry off the round plastic ring on the socket by the light or pry off all the plastic trim that holds lighter?

Pry off the whole ~6" x 2" trim piece that holds the lighter and 3 switches

once you get the plastic trim piece loose, both the lighter socket and lighted ring will push out from the back side. If you can get it all out in one piece great, but most likely the socket will release first and then the lighted ring.
