left radiator fan low speed failure
Hi,
For awhile I've had this issue. My left radiator low speed fan does not kick in. Only the high speed mode works. My right side fan works fine. Both low and high speed. Could this be a relay and if so... where is it? Pics, maybe? The fuses are good. Hope you guys can help! THX!! |
Not a fuse. It's a resistor that is hardwired in by the fan, about the size of a cigar. I'll find a pic....

Thanks for the reply! Awesome!
Indeed I did notice this "resistor" in the past. It looked as if the wires had touched and shorted. I'm gonna pull it out and see where I can find one. Any suggestions? Is it compatible maybe with audi's or bmw? |
Anyone know what that Lip is for in that picture.. the lip held in by 3 bolts in the picture?

I only know about this because my mechanic replaced one during my last visit (to replace the water pump). I'm not certain where you could get one, but a dealer or one of the several online parts vendors (i.e. Pelican Parts, Sunset Imports) would be a start. It is also referred to as a ballast resistor
CJ, I'm not sure what the name of that piece is but unless they have been broken off (like one of mine), you should have one on the leading edge of the front wheel wells. Little debris deflectors I'm guessing. |
