Will these wheels fit?
Hey guys, I know several of you have put these repro carrera wheels on. They are all over ebay and they all seem to be 18x8 in the front and 18x10 in the back. My question is will these fit without spacers/modifications? My concern is with the back wheels, since they are wider than stock. I don't want any rubbing issues going on. My car is not lowered. If they are not bolt on, do you know of carrera repros that are offered in a 18x9 inch size?

Look just like the 18x10 a lot of members have, including myself. No mods, no spacers, and no rubbing from the wheels. I run a 265 without problem.

Thanks Tim, I was wondering because some Ebay vendors say they won't fit a boxster for some reason.

In that case you should probably verify the offset to be safe. I ordered mine from Wheel Dynamics (by phone, not ebay). Mention 986forum and get free shipping.

Adam, how are those rims different from the ones on your car now? They look the same.

My stock turbo twists are 18x10 in the rear though. No problems at all with a 265. |

To the original poster, what is the offset on those 18x10 five spoke Carrera replicas? There are a couple different offsets for 911 (widebody and narrowbody) and that will determine if they will fit. I've seen 18x10's with around a 65mm offset, which moves the wheel one inch closer to the rear strut than the stock 18x9 wheel. That may or may not fit, depending on the tire. You can fix it with a spacer. I've also seen 18x10's with a really low offset, in the range of 40mm which moves the wheel out towards the fender by an inch. It fits, but in my opinion looks kind of silly. If you tell me the offset I can tell you if they're likely to fit. |
Here is the info on the site.
18x8 inch 18x10 inch, 5x130mm 50/47mm Silver Wheels It looks like the offset is 47mm for the rear. This place says they will fit the boxster so all should be fine. 47mm sounds good to me as I would like the wheels to be pushed out and more flush with the fenders. http://www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com/specials/porsche-boxster.shtml#18inch |

50 is the same front offset as the stock 7.5" wheels, meaning the extra half inch of wheel width is split equally between the inside and outside of the rim. JV |
