Driving topless

Hi all,

Sorry if, yet again, I'm asking a stupid question, but I need to know if I can drive the car without the top fitted? I'm replacing the back window with a tinted plastic one and need to remove the top for up to 48hrs to have it done. Unfortunately my box is my only car, and therefore need to be able to drive it to and from work for a couple of days. It's only a short distance, nothing over 40mph, and shouldn't be subjected to any rain (touch wood).

Thanks again for all advice,

-Scott

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to drive the car, but it might look a bit funny having all the metal there with nothing on it. My advice would be check the weather and don't get stuck in the rain.

If you replace the top, yes. If you want to make sewing a new one in easier, then yes.

I'm getting the window sewn in 'professionally' for half a dozen 12 packs of Diet Dr Pepper, so I want to make it as easy as possible for him (he doesn't drink beer, hence the Dr Pepper).

From memory the top is put in the service position for removal. Can I then lower the 'top', or what's left of it, after the material is removed?

Rain's not too much of a problem here. It rains less than 5 times a year here in the desert.

Sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know.
