987 Exhaust Tip Question

Does the 987 Exhaust Tips easily change out? I noticed a nut holding a clamp that looks easy enough, to remove, and then I would imagine it slips off, but is that it?

Vince, you are correct. I watched the dealership do mine for a warranty repair. The chrome tip had a very slight pit, and I had them replace within the first few weeks of ownership. Looked very easy.

If it refuses to give; jiggle it!

When I replaced mine; it was very snug. I used WD-40 to loosen it up. Once out, I cleaned it and the new one slipped right in.

Have Fun!

Loosen the bolt and pull it off. Initially I had to kinda work it side to side to get it off, but added WD40 when I put it back on and that helped.

Yup.

Loosen the nut. Slide it off.

Easy greasy.

Best,

Necroscope, there are some nice choices here:

But, the exhaust tip change process is not so easy with the 986. A lot depends on the year of your car.

Thanks all. I am thinking of installing the optional Cayman Chrome Exhaust Tips, which must be interchangeable as Porsche lists it in their Tequipment Accessories Booklet for Boxster.
