Will 225 width tires fit rear 17 inch wheels?

Will 225-45-17 snow tires fit on the stock Boxster S 17 inch wheels? Is it too narrow?

Fits no worries.

I have Michelin alpine sport all round

225/45/17 all 4 corners.

this will be my second winter on them. I would not advise to be driving/cornering hard though. But for day to day cruising they are fine.

Just watch out for gutters as they are easier to run into as my rims to stick out slightly wider (couple mm) that the tire, but that would depend on your rims.

I installed my winter tires today (Viking SnowTech) and the rear 225 width tires fit the OEM 8.5 wheels perfectly, no tire stretching or weird amount of the wheel sticking out.

On another note, I lost A LOT of steering feel :(

I guess the sidewall stiffness on my winter tires is much less than the one on my summer tires; I wasn't expecting the steering to go from super tight with a nice heavy feel on the summer tires to super loose and light in feel with the winter tires.... :(

Can't wait to put the Pierreli P-Zero tires back on!

Dunlop winter Sports M3s handle a lot better....

I was also wanting to put the same size snow tire on my 17" rims. I have been searching but cannot find the exact measurements of my rims. I have attached a pic below. Does anyone know what the narrowest tire that will fit on all four corners would be?

I was just at discount tire and they told me 225-45-17 tires will not fit on the rear 17" rims. From what I've read on here they will. I'm confused....

I have never heard of 225 fitting the rear.
The front is 205/50-17, and the rear is 255/40-17 for the stock 17" rims.
You can fit 225 on the front, not sure about the rear, but I have gotten different measurements from some tire shops while shopping for snow tires.
