Northern VA / MD / DC Rollcall

I just wanted to do a rollcall and see who here was from the DC area.. I've seen a couple of posts from MD, but I wanted to see how many of us were actually here.

I live in Maryland, 30 miles north of Baltimore

YellowJacket 11-19-2007 09:44 AM

Richmond, VA (2 hours south), but I have an office in Mclean so I'm up there quite a bit. I'd be up for a GTG!

Just outside the District border in Silver Spring, MD

Grizzly 11-19-2007 11:34 AM

Five minutes south of Annapolis.

Live in Manassas, commute to Alexandria for work. Don't have a Boxster but I'm considering an early model for my next money pit. Currently have a supercharged BMW 328i.

I remember that city quite well.

Last week when I took a bus from Montreal to Washington to pick up my Boxster S the bus driver left without out me at the Silver Spring station after what I thought was a 10 minute break which turned out to be an 8 minute break.....

I had all my stuff in the bus so I ended up having to take a taxi to Washington and then run to the bus terminal to get there before the bus with my stuff in it arrived.

Good times good times...

jefla 11-19-2007 06:31 PM

DC Any recommendation on mechanics in or near DC?

HammerESQ 11-19-2007 07:39 PM

Give IMA Motorsports a try.. http://www.imamotorsport.com/main.htm

With so many people local, I really think we should get a meet together.

Too bad we didn't know each other, I would have driven you down in style!

Gubu986 11-20-2007 09:33 AM

I'm in Fairfax close to Woodson H.S. and 495. GTG sounds groovy.

Pat1USMC 11-20-2007 03:56 PM

I'm in Northern Virginia also. 25 minutes south of D.C.

turbo23dog 11-20-2007 05:24 PM

So far out of 13 replies, there are:

MD: 3

NoVA: 7 (includes Manassas and Quantico; you have to be from here to understand...)

Oth VA: 3

Looks like a GTG located in No VA would be most central to all so far. Any shopping center with good coffee and an open parking lot would be a nice location for a first time GTG for the 986forum Mid-Atlantic contingent!

jwilson95 11-20-2007 05:32 PM

Potomac Mills or Tyson's Corner are possiblities???

jefla 11-20-2007 07:41 PM

First, thanks to all for the shop recommendations. Second, geeez the tally didn't even include "DC." Maybe my post didn't clearly convey where I'm from.

Yes, I'm sensitive to not being counted -- and not having a congressman ..... You know, a portion of NoVA (Arlington County) was given to us. When we get Arlington back, then we can do the tally!

Best holidays to all.

University Park (just below UMd)
Best,
Joskin

turbo23dog 11-21-2007 08:06 AM

jefla,

My bad but realistically, DC belongs to MD!!!!!!!

2fast2c 12-02-2007 02:33 PM

I'm in centreville. GTG sounds great. I also belong to local NSX group and we get together number of times. Couple of weeks ago, bunch of us went to skyline drive. Open road, some twisty and beautiful foliage. It was great.
Look forward to seeing all of you.

Andy

I'm in Great Falls, VA.

As far as shops go... I use ASG (in Merrifield, within walking distance to the Dunn Loring Metro stop). They are honest and communicate very well with their customers. Taylor is a wizard with newer models -- 986/7, 996/7, GT3/Turbo/GT2, etc. -- especially with suspension set up. Bills usually match estimates, and if they won't they call you.

I'm due for 60k service and scheduled to take it to Curry's auto in Chantilly.
Anyone used them before or any feedback?

Thanks

bcjm 12-03-2007 04:53 AM

I am in Reston.

I like Autobahn Service at Fairfax circle. I was talking to the owner about his 2.5->2.7 swap last week. Very nice guy.

They are OK. Someone I know was recently unhappy with them because they did unnecessary work without her approval. Just get an agreed upon price up front and you should be fine.

2fast2c 12-03-2007 05:59 AM

Thanks guys for the responses.
I'll be dropping off the car tonight for the service. I'll let you guys know what happen.

Take care, very gusty today
