Service brake pads light at 10,000 miles?

I have a 987Boxster with 10,000 miles and today got the warning light of Service brake pads.
I use this car for mountain twisty roads driving (hard)
Never been to a track.
Is this normal?

Also whats the best brake pads you guys recommend?
Stopping power wise.

Normal? Sure, you drive "hard" on twisty mountain roads!

Stick with OEM pads.

Check www.sunsetporsche.com or www.suncoastporsche.com. This will give you a good starting point.

For $2K you can get bigger brakes too:

Sorry, I just realized that these won't fit a 987 just the 987S. Pretty cool though for other "S" owners.

They also offer the "S" brake kit for the 986 owners. It's about $1.2K.
