Just resolved yesterday, finally shuttling the car back from the dealer.

It was diagnosed as a bad key switch, the second one in six months. There was something rattling in the bad part, and they replaced the whole pistol mechanism with revised parts.

I'm not satisfied with a lack of cause and effect, however the car is running fine now.

I see no logical connection between a failed battery and a mechanically defective switch.

Thanks to everyone on the list for your help!

Sometimes when the battery is dead, owners turn the key a little harder and break the ignition switch.

Although I'm capable of twisting the whole thing apart, that's not the case, turning it as I would any car.

There's something odd going on somewhere....

Anyway, thanks for the help.
