Help Please

Well,I picked up the car and was driving when the engine light came on. Everything was driving fine I drove it to work and parked it and then I was driving home and while making a lefthand turn it died. It seemed like it stalled at first I was thinking my I wasn't use to the new clutch but I turned key off/on and nothing but the interior lights came on. The radio which is aftermarket start lighting up or evn turn on. When I turn the key no noise or nothing like the engine is trying to start. The tow driver told me we should try and let teh car roll down the hill and try and pop the clutch to start it.. well that didn't work either... He said that would bypass the start. So people what do you think it is the ignition switch, starter, or something the mechanic forgot to connect when h did the clutch.

Year?
Miles?
Recent maintenance?
Mods?

Could be a lot of different things.

It could be a number of things. The fact that the check engine light came on makes one wonder if this is something more serious vs. an ignition switch failing. When ignition switches go, it usually happens at startup and windows don't work or the AC controls are absent or the wipers won't work (general description of a demon-possessed boxster).

I think you need to have it diagnosed properly by a dealership or an experience Porsche mechanic.

I hope its something small, but from the way you've described it, it smells a lot worse than a sensor or a switch. I do hope I am wrong though

Did the check engine light come on and stay on, or did it blink?

Blinking means, "pull over and shut off the engine, you are screwed."

Just turned on and staying on means, "get it looked at, there's something small that needs to be replaced" <-- small doesn't mean inexpensive though, especially if its emissions-related.

Once i picked it up from getting the clutch done the light came on no blinking at all. It stayed on... I am just hoping it is something like the fusible link or maybe the starter.. but even trying to jump off my wife's new car it did nothing. I am guessing the mechanic for got to connect the ground to the starter... or a wire got loose.. Anyone put any info it to it

It's the harness to my Avic d-1 pioneer radio . The radio shutting off was a sign that the ignition wire connected to the radio is either loose or not connected at all. Which brings to me the other wire for the alaram is also either loose or not connected... The mechanic told me he can't clear the alarm meaning the car thinks it's being stolen so it cuts all power to the ignition not allowing it to crank ... Right now it's in safe mode. I am hoping the alarm is not fried or the major parts of the ignition... Anyone have any inside on to what color wire coming from the factory radio harness is alarm and ignition wire . I think it will clear my problem.

No... i don't have the car here it at the mechanic still .. I might bring it to a stereo place cause it has to do with how the radio was hooked up.
