Sure, Ill document the install process for the Self Leveling Unit. What Ill do is install without first and drive it to see what the litronics do without and then install it and document what i see the litronics do afterwards. That way we atleast know what the hell that thing does exactly.

What?? You gonna upgrade the bumper but not go the 996/GT3/aerokit I way?!?!
A waste in my opinion unless you change to one of the above. Heck even those techart ebay bumpers are sweet.

I disagree. There is a signifigant difference in the style of the bumper from 1997 to 2003 or 04. I like how the grills are integrated into the bumper and not an attachment of black grills that snap on behind it. The intakes are alittle sharper around the edges which gives it a slightly more agressive and updated look compaired to the stock 1997 bumper.
The 996/GT3/aerokit are all nice but its embarrasing to show up to a p-car meet with a boxster with a 996/GT3/aerokit I front end when there are real 996's GT3's GT3RS's and CGT's. I'd feel like a poser lol. So im sticking with a boxster bumper.

The local owners have installed litronics with the control unit on 2 cars. One of the installs was filmed for the DVD set. The control unit only needs 3 wires to be hooked up in the front trunk.
The thing to watch out for is the year of the car when hooking up the control unit, because there are old instructions floating around. Porsche changed the front trunk wiring in 2002.

Thanks TP. I don't plan to do this anytime soon - waiting for the "deal of the century" . I have also been thinking about the H7 xenon install that a few folks have done and documented on renntech. It'd be great if one were to put the litronics and the H7 xenon installs side by side and compare the two.

Oops, turns out the control box isnt for leveling, the Litronics have that built in, the control box is for use of High beams only, nothing else.

^correct, auto leveling is done at the Factory only. I didn't bother with the box when I upgraded to Lits because at the time I planned on putting back the clear halogens and selling the litronics seperately. But now I doubt I'll ever sell the Boxster! No matter what I get for the car I doubt I'll get something better for the same money. Not worth the sale.
p.s.
Too bad I sold the clear halogens for $550 a year ago. should have held onto those.

The Self Leveling is built into the headlights themselves isnt it??? if so, how can you tell if you got it?

no I don't think they are built into the headlights. I believe its some voodoo wiring that only German speaking guys named Heinz know how to do. In other words, the special wiring is in the car not the lights.
Btw, anyone else who is upgrading, you can adjust the height of the beam if they are not even by using one of those ball end hex wrenches, there's a hole for it on the side of the light. I adjusted my set while it was parked about 15 feet away of the garage door.
