one year ago...
exactly one year ago i purchased my boxster...it will be getting a fresh bath today if it doesn't get too cold hehe.
started my search for a more unique/different/uncommon boxster. saw this one on ebay listed by a dealership, called them, negotiated, then negotiated some more, and after 4 days it was mine, i didnt get a PPI as it was a small dealership in Indiana, but i did send them a list of items to check and send pictures back, and checked out the car myself when i got there, so far no problems. i didn't have a radio code at the time, and it was my first long trip in a boxster (3-4 hrs at 1 am), and i remember my back aching because i want used to seat position compared to my other car, and trying to stay awake and sing a song to stay awake, and then i learned that i seriously don't know one freggin song by heart, LOL...good times. i enjoyed the car a lot, and still do. haven't had too many problems with it, coolant cap and maf swap. car came with a tequipment knob and e-handle, and 17 in wheels, along with a hardtop. so far i put in an intake, short shifter, exhaust cutouts, 18in wheels and tires, and silver interior pieces, and did some work on breaks(pads, brake/clutch flush...thx Patrick, and painted calipers), and got rid of the orange different ways :) i put almost exactly 10k miles on it few autocross events, and love it, cant wait till next season withs some more mods hopefully. so anyways here are some before and after pictures :) before are at the dealers place http://i23.tinypic.com/155qhcg.jpg http://i22.tinypic.com/2z3nei8.jpg http://i23.tinypic.com/21d4hvr.jpg http://i22.tinypic.com/2zexph0.jpg http://i24.tinypic.com/21k9n5w.jpg http://i20.tinypic.com/dbpr3n.jpg |
Congrats on the car's birthday :-)

Thanks for your effort to post some great pictures -- no doubt you spent some time detailing too!
|
dj,
It's amazing all the stuff you have done to your car in the last year ! I still can't believe you paid what you did for your car. I look forward to autocrossing with you next year ( hence my suggestion to do the cosmetic mods rather than the lowering springs ) :D Nick |

man, i was asking for honest opinions, not you telling me what to do so you can beat me next year :D yeah, the price cracks me up too, i still cant believe i pulled that much off ;) |
My car's birthday was October 4th. I'll remember that easily because it was 1 year and 1 day before I got married.
Happy Birthday Boxsters! |
happy anniversary haha, its funny cuz my bro got his box (same color) 3 yrs ago as well in indiana lol its funny cuz its such a rare color and both were bought there
nice pix as well |
Nice summary of the year. Not knowing before this post anything about the length of your ownership I was shocked to see it is just one year. For some reason it feels like to me that you've owned it a lot longer.
I've now had my 986 for 3 years, +/- a couple of weeks. I believe this is the first time that I've had a car this long without any thoughts of replacing it due to boredom. I don't know how long it will last, but I have more fun in this car each time I take it out. ddb  |

Happy B-Day!
What did you do with the original rims? |
there was a great demand for them as it turned out, i had wayyy too many people PM me about them without me even advertising that im selling them, so i sold them to a gentlemen on the forum here, in Hawaii.
i knew i would get another set of black wheels, and if i sell these, ill get another set of black ones hehe ;) so far so good, i love the new wheels. btw, washed the car today, and tried to dry it with a leaf blower. car has way too many coats of zaino, so it took me no more than 5 minutes to dry it, all the water just slid right off, and another minute per wheel. i am never again hand drying the car  plus, got a free leaf blower, 200mph :D |
Leaf blower is definitely the way to go. Happy Anniversary.
|
I was asking to see if I could buy them. The 17" Sport Classic's are really rare and desirable. Any way Happy B-Day to your Car!
|
thanks guys

hey man you always take the best pics....keep em coming.
btw I have never seen that color besides on your car so your still unique. theres still plenty room for play as far as mods go. good luck and heres to many more years, miles, and to the owners good health so he can drive. |

DJ, I have a few tips too. Blow off the driveway before you start, so you stir-up less dust after washing. And, blow out the front air vents before the dirt and leaves and etc gets wet, this makes cleaning the front radiators more efficient. |

i have mesh grill in the front, so not much makes it in there anymore, its black and cant really be seen but does the job, as i dont want to take all that stuff apart again. it was ugly in there with all sorts of stuff that i would never guess would make its way in the front. |
DJ, so i asked my bro about ur sister cuz i dunno her but i guess they know each other haha i think he said she dated/is dating his best friend or something, small world haha

well i figured they cant be THAT many of them in this color damn it haha. and her dating business, i know nothing about LOL |

btw i saw a pic of ur sister last night and shes hot u should post some pix of her instead of ur car next time hahah too bad shes taken lol |
