Any body using WHEEL SPACERS, 18’turbo twist… stock tire size

Hi,

Andy body use wheel spacers on a stock-bodied Boxster. I’ve got stock 18” turbo-twist wheels with stock size tires, thinking about a stance that reflects some significant engine mods.

Do the spacers add anything to handling and stability? What sizes are you using?

I just had 14mm in the rear and 7mm in the front installed. No real difference in feel but the look is great. I didn't think it would be that noticeable but it is. I'll try to post pics when I get a chance. The only problem is that I need new wheel locks because you need to replace the lugs when adding spacers. I'm afraid I will have to get two different sets for the two depths.

May I ask, how much ($?$?$?) to do the spacer job?

I paid $300 which included installation and the longer bolts.

Did your wheels have same offset as stock turbo twists? Any problems with the tires rubbing the inside of the fenders with the 14mm spacers (or 7’s for that matter?

I am attaching a few pics of my wheels with 7mm front and 14mm rear spacers installed (they are the 18" turbo twist wheels on a Boxster S). The angle that the photos are taken at and the apsct of the lens (fish-eye effect) can be misleading so I tried to attach pics that give the best idea. No rubbing anywhere and I believe that I read somewhere that Porsche approves of spacers up to 17mm before undue wheel bearing stress occurs. At any rate, I had these put on by a shop that specializes in Porsche so I trust them.

Thanks for posting your picks, your not kidding, they do fit like a charm. The back looks like you could bottom out no problem without hiting fender, that was my concern. I’m sold. If you’ve got the time it would be cool to see your wide angle shots.

I bought the car with spacers installed, so I'm not sure of the dimensions and/or prices, but I guess it's 20mm back, 12mm front. The look is astonishing, coupled with the Carrera S wheels and PSS9's, I consider it the best look I've seen on a Boxster.






IMO all Porsches look much better on wheels spacers!

I have 7mm f, 15mm r (or are they 14... I forget). No problems whatsoever. They maybe, possibly, perhaps, might increase handling by a small amount. But the major benefit is looks, IMHO. I put them on between the last track session last year and the first one this year, but I also changed tires and installed the M030 suspension at the same time, so I can't attribute any handling increases to any single component. They certainly make it look better though.

I am running 7mm & 14 mm front & rear spacers with stock 18's on my Boxster. There was a slight difference on the track that I noticed (positive) and I do get a very slight rub in the back on track in corners that have a bump with extreme side loading on the car (corners 2 & 4 at Mosport for those who know the track). The rub didn't start with the spacers.. but when I added more negative camber it showed up.
