Absolute Worst Gas Mileage?
I have seen where folks are getting some pretty good mileage with their boxsters, in the low 30mpg-range with highway driving, especially with the 2.5L engines. I am interested on what the absolute worst mileage you may have gotten on a tank of gas, not counting tracking or racing the car.
I just went through a tank of gas mostly city and backroad spirited driving. If my calculations are correct, I only got 15.3 mpg, which is an all-time low for me. I don't remember for sure, but something like 16-17 mpg was my previous low for mileage. I think I have a long road trip comming up next week (1,600 miles), I will take it easy and see what I can get on the highway.

I average around 24 mpg. in my 05 2.7L no matter the driving style.

10.8 mpg, wow, I'm impressed, is that for a whole tank, or just a bout of spirited driving, and have you done any intake/engine/exhaust mods?

My best milage was on a road trip at about 28-31MPG
I average about 22-24MPG (mostly city) maybe even up to 26 when it is a lot of highway.
The worst I have ever goten was about 15-16MPG, that was becauce I ran the engine with the AC on while I was working my stereo.
That's on a 2.5L

I average about 18mpg, that includes both highway and city. I am always pushing my car hard though. All city I would probably end up around 12-13mpg.
The most I have ever got out of one tank of gas was 281miles. At 281miles the gas light came on. I didn't check the average though.

when i lived in orange county and had an even split city/hwy i was getting about 19-20mpg on a tank... now in san diego i'm getting about 15mpg per tank, but i'm never on the highway for more than an exit. on long trips, going 80 with the top down i average 24-25mpg.

when i used to do all city driving I would get 10-14mpg. averaging 195-215 miles in range for one tank.
now that I do a combination of city and hwy I get 18-20mpg.
best range I have gotten with mostly hwy has been 296miles for one tank. pushing the needle deep in the red.

CJ - You can always be boring like I am and just do the math... "I traveled X miles on this tank/it took Y gallons to fill up this tank = " Keeping track of your MPG is a good way to find out about problems ahead of time, if you have a serious drop in MPG for the normal amount of driving, something is happening.

I have gotten 24-26 mpg consistently using the "math" way. No OBC (yet.... poser alert). The best I got was 26-27 on the drive from san jose to big sur (and back).

Car: 01' regular tip. I would imagine a brand new 2.7L MT could hit 34-35 mpg.

Ive once gone 400 miles of highway on one tank, full to empty, lol. Ummm, and I think Ive gone like 200 miles full to empty when I drive really really hard. How bigs a tank? I usually put 14 or 15 gallons in.

My average mileage with the S is 23. With my 2000 Boxster it was 26. However, unless you have an accurate easy to measure your mileage, such as with a GPS, your mileage records might not be accurate. I have known that my speedometer was high, thus my odometer was reading high. With the help of the local PD I took readings on my speedometer today. At an indicated 50 my actual speed was 46. This is a huge error, in my opinion. roughly 8% at that speed.
Are there speedometer gears available for the Boxster S that I can use to adjust the indicated speed?

Best 28, going downhill all the way on the freeway with cruise control from Albuquerque to Dallas. Sizable drop in elevation.
Worst? 12 mpg on the tail of the dragon. Worth every penny for overpriced $3.50 per gallon premium!
