moderators wanted?

Haven't seen the moderators around lately. I can do the job since I'm here everyday.

mrmickeymouse 08-22-2004 06:05 PM

Oh sure...Your a New Yorker... and a youngster ...

We will get shut down :>)

Alienz 08-22-2004 06:10 PM

lol

mrmickeymouse 08-22-2004 06:29 PM

I sent you an e mail, so I can send you the diagrams of the drainage points.

I am still waiting :>)

Tool Pants 08-22-2004 09:13 PM

I am one on 3 Porsche boards and I did not ask, I was told and just made one. I was asked to be one on a 4th that started recently, but I thought there are already too many boards so I have not agreed. Since they all have technical sections there is not really much for me to do.

I grew up in New York so my vote is for Alienz.

Alienz 08-22-2004 10:24 PM

The reason I asked to become a mod is because Mike is gone (R.I.P) and he was the only active mod in this forum. Someone has to moderate this forum and takecare of it. For example, I saw 2 threads today posted by the same person about the same thing, so if I was a mod,I would've joined them. Thanks Tool for the support :)

P.S: I'm surprised you are not a mod yet in this forum Tool.

mrmickeymouse 08-23-2004 10:38 AM

Tool Pants, can you tell me all the boards that are available for the Boxster.

Richard Truss 08-23-2004 11:17 AM

i second Alienz. Although the wise Tool Pants certainly be welcome universally as well. :D

Ad Sach 08-23-2004 07:22 PM

Nah, I want Tool Pants to stay focussed on providing excellent photos and sage advice. Leave the moderating to the less technically indispensable.

TP, Little things like the photo of rebending the clamshell have given me confidence in ways I have left unexpressed.

Keep up the good work all of you!

Richard Truss 08-23-2004 08:53 PM

Good point. Tool Pants is better left to the really hard stuff.

On a side note, Ad, how long should it typically take to get into the engine bay? From the manual it looks to be like a 30 minute operation. I have 2 issues on my box i need to TRY and see if i can manage to repair.

Alienz 08-23-2004 09:26 PM

IT takes me about 3-4 mins to take off the engine cover if thats the same thing.

Richard Truss 08-23-2004 10:39 PM

well, yes -- sort of from beginning to end -- i.e. from putting the top into the service position to seeing engine clear as day. 3-4 minutes?

i guess you get better as you do it more often. i guess i am nervous about breaking anything -- i know no other boxster owners in my area. :(

Ad Sach 08-24-2004 04:08 AM

I spend a liesurely 5 minutes removing the engine cover.

With the top cover off, it takes about 5 more minutes to remove the front engine cover. The seats slide forward, there are 4 plastic 'washers' to unscrew, the carpeting pulls straight up and then you have to find a wrench to unbolt the front cover.

As I posted before, I was very nervous the first time. Once you have done it, it is about as scary as changing a tire. Since the only tools to remove the top cover are your bare hands - it is somewhat difficult to break anything.

Ronzi 08-24-2004 12:43 PM

I agree with the 5 minutes. The first time it probably took me more like 15 minutes, but once you learn the sequence you can cut that down a lot. Biggest problem is probably prying the cable ends loose. The first couple of times were a bit of a bugger, easier after that. No tools required, just your fingers.
One thing you might want to be careful of if you are monkeying around engine, is to make sure you do not push the throttle cable off the metal shoe that it runs over. The engine will start, but all you will have available to you is idle speed.

Richard Truss 08-24-2004 02:40 PM

I just bought a sweet new floor jack from sears (jack stands included) -- plus new a new socket set (got it on sale :D). All i need now is a Chilton's manual or a "Porsche Boxster S for Dummy's" book. I have no idea what i am doing.

None. Zero. Nada. Oh well, i guess now's the time to learn.

mrmickeymouse 08-24-2004 03:14 PM

I have a decent manual on PDF, that explains a lot of stuff we all talk about.

I also have the Mitchell manual which gives you a very basic idea of the vehicle, nothing close to the above mentioned manual.

I also have two PETS [Part numbers and diagrams] which are good for parts.

Richard Truss 08-24-2004 03:17 PM

and how, playtell, would i be able to convince you to share such wealth?

i will tell you how to count cards in black jack -- you could win millions (well, at least a free drink or two). :D

Richard Truss 08-24-2004 03:18 PM

Oh yes, that an "ALIENZ FOR MODERATOR!"

just so i bring it back around to the topic. :( sorry about the hi-jacking of the thread.

lsc7354 08-24-2004 03:27 PM

i would really like to get my hands on that manual too. let me know.

ALIENZ for moderator!

We don't need no mods! There's really only a few of us that post here and I think we're all pretty level headed.

Unlike PPBB.

I just got put on a "moderated" status for being "hostile" to a mod. Funny, the only thread that I was posting to a mod was discussing Corvette suspension with Skylar. I proved him wrong when he accuses me of being a badge snob. He promptly puts me on moderated status. I email him asking where are my "hostile" posts. He tries to tell me they were deleted! Which is a complete lie. Talk about ego trips.

If you want a good laugh, go over there and read my posts on the Corvette suspension. You tell me who was being "hostile".

mrmickeymouse 08-29-2004 11:47 AM

Talking about Skyler and his Kingdom is like talking to a wall.

He will not change, and the rest of the moderators see nothing wrong with him.

I think he has some anger management issues. Amongst a few other issues.

You can not disgaree with him on any matter, he knows everything, and only he is right.

The funniest thing about it is the people who actually know, cowtow to him and praise him. It makes me sick to see such sniveling.

It becomes a useless forum due to some many people losing there opinions, and being afraid to post .

One of the funniest things I have noticed is that he will never post or be seen outside of his controlled medium.

Richard Truss 08-29-2004 12:39 PM

i never go to ppbb because the layout of the site and the usability of the forum pages sucks! click, read. click, read follow up. click again, read a guy saying "funny" or "LOL". annoying.

i much prefer this format, where i can get the whole story at a glance.

Tool Pants 08-29-2004 01:58 PM

I am on my 6th year of Boxstering. John Schaefer from Detroit was the mod before Skylar. Skylar is the friend of Rob from Huston so that is how it happened. He want to be number one.

Skylar has venture out twice. Once the Boxster Racing Board and again on the Babblers, and he was told to go back home. One of the few members that did not have an email when I was on that board back then.

He does not, to my knowledge, post outside what some of us local people now call the the Skylar board.

Since he and Rob banned me years ago I have moved on.

Since my ban they have said I posted porno pictures, but I only posted pictures of cars and parts. Skylar has posted on his board that I make crank telephone calls to him, sent porno emails, and send him porno magazines in the mail. I cannot respond on that board. And I do not even know his real name. 2 year ago he said he was going to contact the police, attorney general, postmaster, FBI, and some other agencys. I am not hard to find since I am a lawyer and registered with the Calif. State Bar Assn. for 23 years. My name and and office and home addresses and telephone numbers are in the local phone books.

People banned from there dry up and you never hear from them again. This has not happened in my situation and it must irk one or two of them
