Just bought my first Porsche. I've been a Miata owner for 8 years now but always a Porsche man. Just couldn't afford one. I'm goign from knowing just about everything there is to know about a Miata to absolutly clueless on a Boxster. Looking forward to getting as much out of this forum as possible. First question... rusty nuts. Lug "bolts" that is. I've got to replace these things. It bugs me. I did a search and found out that it's jsut the way they are from the factory. An aftermarket lug scares me unless I know it is good quality. Anyone have any suggestions for the top of the line lug bolt that won't rust? By the way it's a 2003 Boxster in Seal Gray with 25,000 miles on it. And i love it. :cheers:

Welcome Tomikaze, congrats on your Boxster. It is a great car. You live in a beautiful part of the country. My wife and I have enjoyed driving around New England the past two Fall seasons to see the foliage. Its our favorite place to visit.

i bought new silver lug bolts, just to have them rust as well....
so then when i got new black wheels, i painted them black, i figured im not spending any more money on these, if one of them shows rust again, ill pull it out and repaint it by itself and call it a day.
i used rustoleum, cleaned them with wire brush, and sprayed away, $4

BTW, they also have those caps that you can put over the lug bolts

You should be able to go to any good tire shop and have them order you a set of chrome ones. I did and they look great.

I had same problem. Tire shop replaced with new, no problems since.

I had the same problem with tacky looking lugnuts. My solution was to go with stainless steel ones from Ebay. Impressed with quality and they match my wheels(Sport Classic IIs) which have SS accents. A bit pricey, but have seen no degradation in appearance in 6 mos. Chrome are readily available as well, but didn't like the flash with my wheels.

I have the same problem too. I just went on eBay to check out the lugnuts. Is there specific size of the lugnuts that will fit a 2000 Boxster?

They're not cheap but I'm finding out this car isn't either. I just got mine from here...
