Engine Serial # ?

Does anyone know their engine serial number? If so would you mind sharing the first few digits?

They all start with the model number, so the general form as far as I can tell is:

M96.xxxxTxxxxx

for the 2.5 motors. My 3.4 from a 2001 996 is M96.0466Yxxxxx...

Eric

My engine code.

Ok so my engine code starts with M/960166W according to this site www.porscheclubgb.org/clientftp/Register/996/faq_engine_transmission_codes.pdf
My engine is a 3.4 carrera engine built in 99. I basically just wanted to confirm that. Any one have a way of telling?

Ok, are you looking for confirmation that your engine code is really a '99 Carrera 3.4? If so, look at the parts catalog on p.562 and the M96.01 with 66W suffix is a '98 motor.

Thanks quick question though ....it says it's a 98 but that just means the engine was produced in 1998 right. That has nothing to do with the 993 correct?
