Getting rid oy my tires
 

OK..as what the title said...I wanna get rid of the tires that comes with the package when I bought my 18" Replica Carrera Wheels. It's the Hankook Ventus Sport.
that F*$@%^& thing is so loud (but great on AX IMHO) on freeway and when making turns it makes it even louder.....after many miles of convincing that probably it is still new and just need few more miles before it improve, I've decided to get rid of it and replace it with Kumho's again but the issue is they don't have the size that I was looking for in the rear..285/30, thay only have 265/35 :(

Now my plead to you guys is this...help me figure out (beside the size) the difference between 285/30 and 265/35. I wanna know the pro's and con's of it....

I really like Kumho's coz' that's what I have before and to get the whole set and installed, it will only cost me $875 w/c i think is a good price but only 265/35 available. If I go wider and different brand, there's a diference of about $300-400.

Is the difference of $300-400 worth it or should I stick with Kumho's but narrow :o

c'mon...any one out there that could help me ease my mind beside the crickets I'm hearing :D :D :D

just get the wider ones, sell the ones you have, and you will be all good.

i know but right now that $300-400 difference is quite a bit for my pocket..If I could find out the pro's and con's of wider against narrower tire..it would be easy for me to decide.
plus, let say..i got convince about the narrower tire...that money difference could be added to my fundings to repaint the whole front end :D or take the wifey out on a weekend trip :)

or you can wear earplugs when you drive ;)

hahahahaha! LOL...that sounds like an idea and on winter time, I could wear an ear muff..heheheheheh!

265/35x18 Good compromize between traction and weight. That is what the fast guys in Auto - X are wearing on the rear. Look good too.

285's are wider, heavier, may look better (filling the fender thing) but depending what size tires you run up front, may contribute to a feeling of more understeer. It's hard to break loose a 285 ;)

Factory sizes for 18" wheels on the Boxster were 225 front, 265 rear if that helps.

a 285 is generally 20 mm wider than a 265. 20mm is just less than one inch (25.4mm). If you have lowered the car, it is conceivable that the 285 will rub on the rear springs/strut.

So if I wanted to go for the looks..I should go 285's but for being practical..stay with the factory size :)

Wohooo...I decide to go with this one :D I love this tires..I have them before on my stock wheels and they are quiet. I know there are others out there but for the price...it's not bad at all. $864 installed, balanced, warranty and lifetime free rotation...thati s if i need one...hehehehehehehe!
