Ipod connection with the BLAU/8-POD connector w/ CDR-220
I recently purchased the Ipod connection ...the BLAU/8-POD connector and have a CDR-220 in my 2002 Boxster S with no CD changer. Plugging it in was no problem but I don't know where to connect the ground and power wires. I was hoping that it would work without these connected but it seems they need to be. I looked everywhere but found no specific answers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There is a power connector for the cell phone hidden in the center console. You can find information about it in this post on RennTech: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5190
You can buy a connector from Becker that fits the cell phone power outlet. Good luck. |
You need to tap into the Becker phone power cable. There is an empty plug underneath the center console that has switched, unswitched and ground power. You can tap into the plug directly or buy the extension cable. There are a few posts on this cable so search them for specifics.

i haven't wired my power yet on the same setup. but i'm planning on using pin 5 and pin 8 from the main radio wiring harness. i think wiring in to the empty connector down in the center console introduces a ground loop which will give you the whining and the bad sound quality. hopefully i'll have a chance to wire this in soon.. i'll report back.

I wrote up how to power the iPod. So a search for a thread called Power to the iPod.
The Search button is very useful. |
Done! Thanks for the help.
Done. Thanks for the help..most notably Chills. After installing the adapter and wiring the pos/neg wires, the only problem I had was figuring out how to switch the AUX to the "on". FYI... Hold down the TP button for approx 8 seconds and scroll through the menu until the AUX function appears. Push the button directly below and it will switch it to "on" and recognize the Ipod.

Glad it went smoothly.
