18-inch wheels -- economical suggestions?

If I didn't want to mortgage my house....

What, in your opinion, should I look at for 18-inch wheels?

I currently have 17-inch (stock) on my 1999 Boxster. I was thinking I could dress it up a bit with some 18-inchers -- however, I don't have the deepest pockets.

I would prefer not to go over $1000 for the wheels (please don't laugh) :o

I can get the tires from a friend at no cost.

Thank you as always for your time.

BTW, I put the 2003 Boxster S exhaust (muffler) on my 1999 Boxster. It really did make a nice improvement in the sound below 3K RPM.

Check out this company's offerings. They're just $200 more than your budget, but well worth the extra for new rims. I bought the 18 inch Carrera lights from them and found them to be excellent quality:

Randall has pointed you in the direction of the least expensive wheels. I searched for months earlier this year and couldn't find anything cheaper. TireRack is another place to look, I just didn't like the offerings they had.

Be sure to get the proper offsets before you pull the trigger on buying anything. Don't want to make an expensive misktake. The factory sizes & offsets are:

F 7.5x18 50
R 9x18 52

Wheel Dyn sells 10x18 47mm offset rears which will fit. The e-brake cable needs to be pinned back.

Good luck with your search.

Or, instead of pinning back your ebrake cable, get some 7mm spacers! They really improve the look of the rear end and fill out the wheel wells nicely.

+1 Wheeldynamics. Got these with tires, mounted, balanced and delivered for less than $2,000...and the 18s are even a little cheaper.
