If that were true, then how is it that RUF's RK spyder has them in that same area with no problems. Make you wonder.

Pretty sure they were eliminated due to winter testing, clogged with ice and snow. I doubt Ruf worries about such things as evident by my Ruf front bumper inlets to the rad's clogging up in snow storms.

If you haven't read "Porsche Boxster" by John Lamm, it's a great story on Boxster history. The original prototype had NO engine, all the PR shots taken of the car in motion were taken on a slope... with the car coasting!

Is it an actual interesting book to read, or more of an interesting picture book with some good anecdotes thrown in?

Lamm's book is comprehensive about the development of the Boxster, both from the styling and technical points of view. It is well illustrated, but certainly is not the typical coffee table picture book.
Also, it is written from the perspective of the US models, instead of UK cars as so many similar books seem to be.
Unless there is a new edition, you wont' find anything about the 2.7s or the S, as it was written before they were introduced.
